Technology
This project is built using the latest in JavaScript technology. The frontend is built using ReactJS and NodeJS for the backend. The API layer connects to Sage Cloud Accounting and PayFast as the payment gateway. Some of the data is synchronised to a local MongoDB storage for fast data processing, other data like the creation of invoices is instant.
How it works
The SA Heart Association has two types of visitors to their website, the patients who are looking for more information and professionals who register as members. Patient type visitors are limited to the content they can view and have the possibility to download resources that are free or some payable. A quick one time registration and payment can be made to download the payable resources.
New members join by being motivated by two existing members. Once they have been motivated for, the new member will complete a professional information, billing details and select their membership type and options. Once they have paid an account is created for them in Sage and and invoice is generated and sent.
Every year the members are reminded that their membership has expired and are due to renew their membership online. At anytime a member can top up different options on their membership and will be billed pro rate to their membership expiry date.
Members have access to all the resources for free and can download them at any times once they have logged in.
Functionality

- CMS system to upload calendar entries, news, journals, new menu buttons and pages
